Information used on your device
TapSeoul stores card identifiers and card type, nicknames, up to 300 balance readings and scan times per card, visited areas, visit dates when known, optional overnight stays and app preferences locally. These are used to separate your cards and display your personal map. No TapSeoul account is required.
If you explicitly enable experimental recent-transaction reading, the app also keeps the latest returned transaction snapshot for that card on your device. These unverified amounts, dates and transaction types may be incorrect and are shown separately from balance scan history. Removing the saved card deletes these records.
Optional photos and location
If you allow photo access and start an import, the app reads location and date metadata to suggest visited areas. It does not upload photos or photo coordinates to gatepop inc. You review suggestions before saving. If you tap “I’m here now,” the app requests your current location once to suggest an area. The saved visit contains an area identifier rather than the raw coordinates. The app does not continuously track your location.
On iOS version 1.0.0 (build 14) and later, you can choose to photograph a physical card from its detail screen. Camera permission is requested only when you start this feature. The cropped card image and thumbnail are saved in private app storage on your device, without the original EXIF or GPS metadata. They are not added to your photo library, uploaded, or passed to analytics or advertising services. Cancelling a capture keeps the previous photo. Replacing a photo, removing the photo, or deleting its saved card removes the corresponding saved image files; interrupted cleanup is retried when the app next starts.
Servers, tracking and backups
TapSeoul does not provide a server-side card or travel database, account sync, or an in-app backup and restore feature. The card and map features are designed to process your data on your device. Card and map content is not sent to analytics. Optional Google Analytics for Firebase measures app screens and feature usage after you opt in. On iOS version 1.0.0 (build 14) and later, the private card-photo directory and the shared local database directory are excluded from operating-system backups. Android operating-system app backup is disabled. Device-to-device transfer behavior may still depend on your operating-system provider and device settings, and backups created by older versions are managed by that provider.
Optional analytics
With your permission, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase and this website uses Google Analytics 4. Analytics can process installation or cookie identifiers, screen/page views, feature events, device and operating-system information, language, timestamps and approximate location derived from network information. We do not send card numbers, card nicknames, balances, transaction details, saved visit locations, exact GPS coordinates or photos to Google Analytics.
Analytics is off until you opt in. For analytics, advertising identifiers, advertising storage, personalized advertising and Google Signals are disabled. AdMob advertising is separate, as described below. Our app events are limited to screen views, card scan started/succeeded/failed and a visit-saved count, without card, balance or place details. Google Analytics for Firebase also records its standard automatic events, such as first open, session start, engagement time and app or operating-system updates. Website URLs sent by our code exclude query strings and fragments.
Google processes analytics data under its service terms and privacy policy, potentially outside your country. See Google Privacy Policy. Turn app analytics off in Settings or use Analytics preferences in this website’s footer. Turning it off stops future collection; previously collected reports are not retroactively deleted. Website analytics cookies expire after up to 60 days. Consent preferences are stored locally until changed or site/app data is cleared. This website also stores your selected display language in your browser so it can remember that choice.
Banner advertising
The mobile app uses Google AdMob to display bottom banner ads and requests non-personalized ads. Non-personalized does not mean no data collection: Google may process IP addresses (including approximate location), device and app information, identifiers permitted by device settings and consent, ad interactions and diagnostics to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. TapSeoul does not pass card identifiers, balances, saved places, exact location or photos to AdMob. Our app does not request tracking permission or access the iOS advertising identifier. Starting with Android version 1.0.0 (build 5), AdMob may access the Android advertising ID when permitted by device settings and consent, for non-personalized advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. Earlier Android builds block this permission. Optional Firebase Analytics continues to have advertising-ID collection disabled.
Google's consent tool presents advertising choices where required before ads are requested. You can revisit available choices through Settings → Ad privacy choices. Advertising choices are separate from optional analytics. If consent cannot be checked, the app continues without ads. Google may process data outside your country; see Google advertising privacy and Google Privacy Policy. Google determines retention under its policies. Advertising requires internet access; card and map records remain on your device.
Your controls
You can remove a card photo independently, delete saved cards and visited places in the app, and change camera, photo-library and location permissions in system settings. Denying these optional permissions does not prevent ordinary NFC balance reading on a supported device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data may remove your records. gatepop inc cannot recover records that exist only on your device. Previously created operating-system backups are managed through your operating-system provider.
Support and external links
If you email support, your email address and the information you choose to send are processed to answer your request. Do not send full card numbers or private travel records unless needed. Support email is handled using Cloudflare email routing and Google mail services when configured. External links open services with their own privacy practices. The website hosting provider may process request information to deliver and protect the site.
